SCOTT SVENSON

Scott Svenson is Managing Partner of Freestone and the Founder and Chairman of The Sienna Group. Before establishing Sienna in 2002, he served as President-Starbucks UK and Europe, joining Starbucks after their acquisition of Seattle Coffee Company, a business founded by Scott and his wife Ally. Previously Scott served as the Deputy CEO of the third largest long-term healthcare provider in the UK after a career in investment banking, initially at Drexel, Burnham Lambert and then with Apax Partners. Scott graduated with honors from Harvard University and sits on the board of Freestone, Redwood Real Estate Partners, Carluccio's Ltd, MOD Super Fast Pizza, Banner Retail Marketing, Grosvenor House Group Ltd and the Foster School of Business advisory board at the University of Washington. Scott and his family enjoy skiing, hiking, traveling and spending time in the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.
GARY FURUKAWA
Partner
Gary Furukawa brings two decades of experience in financial advice and planning. Before cofounding Freestone, he worked for 11 years at Salomon Smith Barney as one of their top financial consultants nationwide, managing assets of more than $500 million. With his background as a CPA for the Internal Revenue Service and a tax specialist with Deloitte & Touche, Gary brings insight not typically found in portfolio managers. A Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Washington, he devotes his leisure time to his family and a variety of outdoor activities including tennis, fly-fishing, golf and hiking.
JIM BARNYAK
Partner
Jim Barnyak brings over 20 years of experience to Freestone as the former head of Smith Barney in Australia where he succeeded in creating strategic plans that boosted business unit and client growth, and substantially increased profitability. Jim’s expertise includes a wide range of specialties from operational management to sales and marketing to the development of new wealth management programs. A 1981 graduate of Michigan State University, Mr. Barnyak enjoys cooking, skiing, and traveling with his family.
ERIK MORGAN
Partner
Erik Morgan came to Freestone from Arthur Andersen where he was Senior Manager of Private Client Services and created their Northwest Investment Advisory Services. Erik brings extensive high net worth experience having managed in excess of $700 million in client assets. Prior to Arthur Andersen, he was with The Rainier Group where he specialized in investment management consulting and estate planning. Erik is a graduate of Washington State University, is active in the Investment Management Association, and is a CIMA candidate. Outside of Freestone he enjoys time with his family, golf, running, and skiing.
