Kim joined Freestone in 1999 as one of the firm’s five original members. She initially served as Freestone’s Operations Manager and Compliance Officer before transitioning back to the client side to pursue her passion for building relationships. She enjoys working directly with clients to help them navigate the complexities that wealth inevitably brings. Kim provides wealth management advice and service to some of the firm’s most affluent families. She works closely with her clients’ CPAs and attorneys to form a holistic approach to their wealth management needs. Kim began her career in the investment industry in 1992 at Smith Barney. She served in supervisory roles in Operations and Compliance before joining Gary Furukawa’s team as a Portfolio Management Associate.
Education
Kim earned a BA in Criminal Justice and expected to become a lawyer; instead, she discovered her passion in taking care of clients and financial services.
Outside Freestone
Kim is a member of the Board of the American Cancer Society’s PNW CEOs Against Cancer Chapter. Kim has been an active fundraiser and Freestone team captain for Fred Hutch’s annual Obliteride and in the past volunteered and fundraised with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. She’s also an active supporter and volunteer with Seattle-based Recovery Café, a refuge for people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and other mental health challenges. In her spare time, and true to her undergraduate degree, Kim enjoys reading true crime novels and listening to podcasts, specifically ones that touch on forensic investigation. Kim lives in Carnation with her family and enjoys spending time with her grown children and her Labrador Retrievers.
