Scott Svenson

Scott has served as Chief Executive Officer of Freestone since 2010 and as Chairman of the Investment Committee since 2009. He is responsible for managing Freestone’s business on a day-to-day basis, including execution of the long-term growth plan. Scott also currently serves as Chairman of The Sienna Group. Before establishing Sienna in 2002, Scott served as President of Starbucks UK and Europe, joining Starbucks after their acquisition of Seattle Coffee Company, a business founded by Scott and his wife Ally. Previously Scott served as the Deputy CEO of the third largest long-term healthcare provider in the United Kingdom after a career in investment banking, initially at Drexel Burnham Lambert and then with Apax Partners. In addition to Freestone and Sienna, Scott currently sits on the boards of MOD Super Fast Pizza and Grosvenor House Group Ltd, as well as the Foster School of Business advisory board at the University of Washington. He received a BA in Business, with honors, from Harvard University in 1988. Scott and his family enjoy skiing, hiking, traveling, and spending time in the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.

Erik Morgan

Erik has served as a Client Advisor with Freestone since 2000. Prior to joining Freestone, Erik served as Senior Manager of Private Client Services at Arthur Andersen where he managed in excess of $700 million in client assets and was responsible for creating the firm’s Northwest Investment Advisory Services practice. Prior to Arthur Andersen, he was with The Rainier Group where he specialized in investment management consulting and estate planning. Erik has been recognized in Seattle Magazine as a “Five Star Wealth Manager – Best in Client Satisfaction”* for the past five years in a row (2007 to 2011), and was named by Barron’s magazine as one of the “Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors” in the country in 2010 and 2011 and one of the “Top 1000 Financial Advisors” in 2011 and 2012.* He earned a BA in Business Administration from Washington State University. Outside of Freestone, Erik enjoys time with his family, golf, running, and skiing.

Gary Furukawa

Gary brings over three decades of investment, financial advice, and planning experience to Freestone. He currently heads up Freestone's Santa Barbara office and oversees portfolio management for the firm’s long/short alternative investment funds. Prior to cofounding Freestone in 1999, Gary worked for 11 years at Smith Barney as one of their top financial consultants nationwide, managing assets of more than $500 million. Prior to Smith Barney, Gary worked as a Certified Public Accountant in various roles on behalf of the Internal Revenue Service and Deloitte & Touche. A Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate of the University of Washington, he devotes his leisure time to his family and a variety of outdoor activities including tennis, fly-fishing, golf, and hiking.

James Rooney

Jamie joined Freestone in 2008 to lead the firm’s alternative investment efforts. Prior to joining Freestone, Jamie served from 2004 to 2008 as Executive Director with CIBC World Markets in New York where he advised clients on a broad range of investment banking assignments, including sell and buyside advisory, equity offerings, and strategic advisory assignments. From 1999 to 2002, Jamie worked in the global corporate development group at Reuters Group plc in London, where he was involved in strategic acquisitions and working with portfolio companies in the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Spain, including serving on the Board of Directors of numerous companies. Jamie began his career in 1994 as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers in New York. He received an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Business, and graduated magna cum laude from Washington University with a BA degree in economics and history.

Kelly Allison, CPA

Kelly joined Freestone in 2009 and currently serves as Chief Financial Officer for the firm. She has overseen the financial affairs of investment advisors and real estate businesses for over 15 years. Prior to joining Freestone, Kelly spent four years as a Vice President and Portfolio Controller with a large institutional real estate investment advisor in Seattle. For the previous seven years, Kelly was the Chief Financial Officer for a high net worth family and was responsible for managing all financial aspects of the family’s real estate portfolio, including acquisition, development, financing, property management, and dispositions. Earlier in her career, she served for four years as the CFO and Controller for a privately owned real estate company with $350 million in assets. Kelly received a BA, cum laude, in accounting from the University of Puget Sound in 1991, and an MS degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1995. She is a licensed CPA in the State of Washington.
