Scholarship Overview

Freestone Capital Management will award five “Freestone Future Leaders” scholarships to college students for the 2020-2021 school year. The scholarships will provide five students each with a $5,000 tuition reimbursement, totaling $25,000 in financial support.

All high school seniors and current undergraduate college students are invited to apply, who meet the criterion below.

Important Dates

The scholarship entry period begins on February 5, and the application deadline is May 1, 2020. Students who are awarded scholarships will be notified by the first week of June 2020, with a public announcement to follow shortly after. 

  • February 5, 2020 – Application opens

  • May 1, 2020 – Application deadline

  • June 1, 2020 – Freestone Future Leaders announced

Award Details and Rules

The following rules apply to all Freestone Future Leaders Scholarship applicants and outline the requirements, consents and, selection and distribution of awarded funds.

  • Five students will each be awarded with a $5,000 scholarship, totaling $25,000 in financial support.
  • The scholarship(s) will be paid as a tuition reimbursement directly to the college or university of each of the five recipients upon receiving official documentation of a tuition payment.
  • All decisions of the selection committee are final and are not subject to appeal.
  • Selected recipients authorize their name and image to be shared publicly in Freestone communications, and to participate in marketing activities as appropriate.

Application Criterion

To be eligible to apply for a Freestone Future Leaders Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year technical college or university.

  • All scholarship recipients must be enrolled as full-time students.

  • Post-graduate, master’s or doctorate candidates are not eligible to apply.

  • Any degree can apply. The scholarship is not limited to finance or business-focused majors.

  • Applicants should be involved in community, entrepreneurship or other extracurricular activities.

  • Applicants must also be U.S. citizens and reside in Washington State, Oregon or California.

  • Please note that previous award recipients, along with Freestone employees, clients, partners and their families, are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply

To apply for a Freestone Future Leaders Scholarship, review the applicant criteria above to ensure eligibility, complete the scholarship form, answer the essay question, and attach all required supplemental materials.

  • Step 3: Attach letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community influencer.

Essay Questions
Answer two of the following questions. Responses are a maximum of 500 words in length. Note: there is not a way to save, continue or undue a scholarship submission. We recommend writing responses in Word, then pasting them into this form and completing everything at once. Responses will be evaluated by an objective committee using a predefined rating system, which emphasizes personal narratives, extracurricular interests, community involvement, entrepreneurship and financial need.
