Philanthropy

A holistic approach to philanthropic giving can help you meet your financial and tax goals.

A holistic approach to philanthropic giving can help you meet your financial and tax goals.

If you have a desire to give to charity, there are a variety of strategies to accomplish your philanthropic goals effectively. We consider your entire financial picture to help you identify the method of giving that makes the most sense over time.

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a philanthropic vehicle that allows the donor to make irrevocable contributions to a pooled charitable account without making a donation immediately to any specific charity. The donor then can make grants to specific charities from this pool, and do so over many years. A DAF allows individuals to claim a tax deduction in the current tax year on the entire amount contributed to the DAF, even if donations to specific charities occur over future tax years.

A Charitable Trust can also be a useful tool to establish a formal charitable giving account. Depending on your philanthropic goals, we will assess which trust type will best compliment your situation.

If neither of these options provide the arrangement that is right for you, we can include a philanthropic planning as part of your Estate Plan.
