Riley directs his clients public and private market investing, with a focus around managing concentrated stock positions, tax-efficient divesting, 10b5-1, plus philanthropic, estate and tax planning strategies. Riley’s holistic approach resonates with high-net-worth individuals at technology companies, as well as industries like AI, software, cybersecurity, and defense. Riley provides wealth management and long-term family continuity to clients across generations. Prior to joining Freestone, Riley was Vice President, Investment Advisor at Scharf Investments LLC focusing on investment management and wealth planning services. Riley’s career began at Merrill Lynch over 15 years ago focused on trading, distribution, and custody services.
Education
Riley earned a BS in Economics from the University of Oregon with a minor in Business Administration and concentration in Finance. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.

Riley currently resides in San Jose with his wife, daughter, and golden retriever.
