For more than a decade, Freestone has proudly supported Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center through Obliteride, an annual community event dedicated to raising funds for life-saving cancer research. Cancer has affected the lives of many employees, clients, family members, and friends throughout the Freestone community. Each year, Obliteride offers an opportunity to come together around a shared purpose: curing cancer faster.
For some team members, that connection comes from personal experiences with cancer survivorship and loss. Kim Hansen, Partner and Client Advisor, has participated in Obliteride for 13 years and is a 17-year breast cancer survivor. This year, she rides in memory of a close friend and client lost to cancer.
Others ride to honor loved ones or celebrate personal journeys marked by courage and resilience. For Mairin Murphy, CFP®, a recent breast cancer survivor, Obliteride represents hope, community, and support for those facing cancer diagnoses. Senior Client Service Associate Mari Nordstrom participates in memory of her Uncle Phil, whose treatment journey at Fred Hutch gave her family more precious time together and inspired her continued support of the organization’s mission. Freestone is proud to have raised more than $430,000 over the past five years as an Obliteride sponsor. This year, we are continuing that commitment as a $100,000 sponsor, helping advance Fred Hutch’s mission to prevent, treat, and cure cancer.
In 2024 alone, Freestone raised more than $186,000 to support Fred Hutch, our strongest fundraising year to date.
